A wedge prism is an optical element with sloped planar surfaces; typically, these two faces are inclined toward each other at a very small angle. It deviates light toward its thicker portion. By selecting an appropriate wedge, a precise beam deviation can be easily generated without affecting other beam parameters. If two wedges are used together with their sloped surfaces adjacent, a continuous variation in beam deviation can be achieved by counter-rotating the prisms.
