Designed to rotate or invert an image without deviating from the optical axis. Rotating the prism about its longitudinal axis rotates the image at twice the prism's speed.

A Dove prism is a type of reflective prism used to invert an image. It is formed by a truncated right-angle prism. A beam of light enters one of the sloped faces of the prism, undergoes total internal reflection from the longest (bottom) face, and then exits through the opposite sloped face. Images passing through the prism are flipped, and since only a single reflection occurs, the handedness of the image is reversed.
